Goodnight, everyone.
Just kidding, it’s only 4:17 PM.
For those who have asked, I will not do this project again in 2011. However, I WILL continue to do self-portraits. It’s a fascinating art form and I’d like to get even better at it. I’d like to focus on quality over quantity this time.
I don’t know what to say other than doing this project taught me more about photography than I ever thought I could know. I still have a lot to learn. But man, if you want to get better at something, do it every day for a year. Then keep doing it.
If you want to learn more about photography, do a 365 project—selfies or not.
There were certainly days I didn’t want to take a picture, but I did anyway. I made this project important to me. It sounds simple but I think that’s how you do anything consistently, whether it’s healthy eating or quitting smoking or learning guitar or doing a 365 project. Just make it important. Don’t quit. Of course, if you make it important, you won’t quit.
Thank you so much to all who have commented on my photos this year. It helps makes me feel like I’m not just putting these out into a void.
Happy New Year! Time to eat soup and watch the Twilight Zone. And tomorrow, I think I will not take a self-portrait.
The End.
“Make it important” is a great mantra for 2011.
This is/was a WONDERFUL project. Thank you, Ari! Incredible.
